It can be expendable materials, usually they are present in games, it can be extra lives, some currency that is valid only inside the game. Such a purchase is always made as needed, that is, if the user has run out of lives in the game, then he can buy them, and until they run out, there is no need to buy them.
And each time, if necessary, the user must again buy the consumables of interest to him. It's worth noting that some apps won't transfer content you've purchased to another device. That is, if the game was originally installed on the iPod and purchases were made on it, then if you install the game on the iPhone, the level you reached in the game will be transferred, but the purchases will not.
Non-consumables which are bought only once. These purchases transfer from one device to another if they share Apple ID. Such purchases can also be restored. Usually this can be disabling advertising in the program, buying additional characters, accessories or additional game levels.
There are also non-renewable subscriptions, usually fixed term subscription or seasonal. The purchase of the next similar content is possible only after the end of the previous one. In this case, the user himself must buy the subscription he needs. Renewable subscriptions automatically renew after the end of the previous one.
Usually this subscription is made once a week, month or year. Many customer acquisition programs may provide a free trial. When purchasing such a subscription, if you want to unsubscribe from its permanent renewal, you will need to perform a certain set of actions.
In order to make a purchase built into the program, you need to enter your ID. If you are unable to make a purchase, then you should check the information you entered card details or electronic wallet with which you want to pay for this purchase.
So, in-app purchase doesn't mean you have to buy something on download. It is up to you alone to make the decision to purchase additional content, and the device must at least once will ask you to confirm your desire purchase any in-app purchase. How to download paid apps from the App Store
To download a paid application, all actions are similar to downloading a free one, only at the end you will need to select a payment method if you did not specify a credit card in the "payment methods" section during registration.
If a credit card was initially selected, then upon purchase, the money will be automatically debited from it. But it is not always possible to use the map, especially in the App Store. For example, changing the country of an account (without being physically located in it) requires the use of a bank card from your "new" country, which, of course, is impossible. But there are options - and about them below.

At first glance, the easiest and most logical payment method is credit or debit cards, the numbers of which you register when registering an Apple ID. But very often there is no way to “friend” the card with the App Store - it gives an error or the payment simply does not go through, so you are left without an application. And even if you managed to register a card, then making purchases on the Internet should be as careful as possible. And in general, the user may be a minor, and such cards are not supposed to. So, paying by card is a good way, but not entirely reliable.
iTunes, App Store, Apple Music promo codes or gift cards
Promotional codes, as you understand, allow you to get discounts in the App Store when buying paid applications, and gift cards allow you to pay (in whole or in part) for purchases.
Promo codes for the App Store are often given away for free on discount sites, and gift cards can be bought at terminals or mobile phone stores.
