The main disadvantage of any website builder is the generally recognized lack of "exit" to the code. But if you “neutralize” this problem, then Wix turns into a cloud-based CMS. Or has already turned?

The new tool is called Wix Code. How successful its implementation was, we will make sure with you at own experience: we climb, we will show what and how! In the meantime, a brief overview of what the new tool can do:

Not available to everyone yet

At the time of this writing, the design team is still beta testing Wix Code. That is, while the new functionality is available only to a limited number of platform users.

I thought that I would not make it, or that it would take five days. To take part in testing Wix Code, you need to go to the landing page dedicated to the launch of the tool. Then click on the "Apply for Beta" link.

Creating modules- web modules are the main means by which a Wix user can integrate their code, interconnect with other scripts and execute them in the front-end of the site. The tool for creating modules is located in the "Backend" section.

Step-by-step instruction

To register in the service, click on the Create site button. Registration is simple. You just need to enter your email address.

We get to the site control panel.

The control panel consists of the following items: quick actions, site setup, domains and mail, App Market, my applications.

Click on the button Which site do you want? Let's choose a site Business.

Now we have to choose one of the business templates. So far, everything is clear.

Pay attention to the subheadings: consulting and coaching, maintenance and repair, marketing and advertising, automobiles, real estate, finance and law, applications and technology, animals.

Select a website template for a recruiting agency and click on the Editor button.

Let's start editing a site on the Wix platform.

Hover over the image and select it. A context menu appears. Press Replace photo.

You can select an image from the Wix collection, add a photo from social networks, your own image, or a Bigstock photo.

We will upload our own photo and click Ready.

We replaced the photo. Now you need to edit the text. To do this, move the cursor in the same way, and then left-click on the text area.

Push Edit text... Change the parameters: color, font size.

To change the text, you need to cross out the old one and type a new one, as in Word.

As you can see, you can change the appearance of the menu. Let's choose a slightly different appearance of the menu. To do this, put a checkmark in front of it.

Let's save our site just in case. For this, an icon is provided to the left of the Preview button.

Wix invites us to decide on a domain: will we use our own or use a Wix subdomain. It is very pleasant that the choice is present even on the free platform.

But we're not done editing yet. To do this, go back to the tab with the editor.

To go to another page, you need to highlight the menu and press Navigation.

Wix is easy and fun to work with. No difficulties and problems arose during the creation of the site. Everything is simple and accessible, on a par with uKit and A5.ru. There were not enough layouts for individual pages or more detailed structure for different pages in the selected template.

Excellent functionality, on a par with other platforms: compatriot Weebly and uKit constructor. It is possible to create an online store. The functionality is higher than that of A5 and Umi.ru. There are many templates and they all look modern and attractive. The only negative is the small choice of payment methods.

Templates

Templates play a huge role when choosing a site. Their number is important, as well as the aesthetic component. Templates in Wix are divided into categories: business, online shopping, photography, music, design, restaurants and food, hotels, events, portfolios and resumes, blog, health, fashion and beauty, education and culture, art, landing pages.

A total of 432 templates are currently provided, including 108 business templates. In terms of quality / quantity, Wix is on a par with uKit (236 attractive templates) and outperforms Weebly in quantity (24 templates), and Umi.ru (over 550 ) by quality.

There are 236 templates in the uKit system. They also look attractive and keep up with Wix in beauty.
