Still Got Issues with Cydia Download?

Fans of jailbreak immediately after the release of Pangu8 noted that Cydia is not available on jailbroken devices. We didn’t have to wait long for the adaptation of the alternative application store - Cydia creator Jay Freeman had already updated the application and sent the necessary data to the Chinese from PanguTeam to be able to integrate Cydia into the next versions of Pangu8.

Hackers from the PanguTeam team are now probably even busier than during the development of the tool for iOS jailbreak 8 and iOS 8.1. The creators of Pangu8 have already released version 1.0.1, where they fixed an annoying bug with deleting photos from mobile phones Apple devices after jailbreak, and now they are working on Pangu8 1.0.2, where, most likely, we will see built-in Cydia.

However, the alternative Cydia application store, without which the meaning of jailbreak is practically lost, can be installed right now. However, for this you need to “sweat.”

Step 1. Jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 according to these instructions

Step 2. Open the Pangu application that appears on one of your desktops

Step 3: Install OpenSSH

Step 4: Download two .deb files from this and this link

Step 5: Download and install the free CyberDuck SFTP client for Windows or Mac

Step 6: Go to Menu Settings -> WiFi, click on the “i” icon next to the current Wi-Fi connection and write down the “IP Address” of your device

Step 7. Open CyberDuck, click “New Connection” and specify the following parameters:

  • Connection type: SFTP (Secure connection via SSH)
  • Server: IP address of your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
  • Port: 21 or 22
  • User: root
  • Password: alpine

Step 8. Click connect and at the request “This server is unknown to the system” click “Allow”

Step 9. Through CyberDuck, in the var/root/Media folder, create a subfolder “Cydia”, and in it another folder “AutoInstall” and upload the files downloaded in step No. 4 into it

Step 10. Reboot your device - Cydia will be waiting for you on your desktop!

What to do if Cydia does not appear after a reboot?

First of all, check that the names of the created folders are correct. The path to the .deb files you downloaded in step #4 should be var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall and nothing else.

If everything was done correctly, then the problem is most likely with file access rights. Go to the var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall folder, right-click on one of the .deb files and select “Info”. In the window that opens, click “Permissions” and set the “Unix Permissions” parameter to the number “777”. After that, do the same operation with the second file and reboot the device again.

Finally, it’s worth noting that if you don’t particularly want to bother with manually installing Cydia, just wait. The updated version of Pangu8 will be released in the coming days, and decent tweaks optimized for iOS 8 are now difficult to find.

Almost every owner of an unofficial iPhone or iPad knows that it is proposed to install a jailbreak of the iOS system special program Cydia, but few people know what it is and why it is needed. In today's article we will fully reveal all the questions that may arise when working or installing Cydia

What is Cydia and why is it needed?

Cydia is an unofficial alternative App Store, with its help you can install some tweaks and utilities. Many programs from Sidia work bypassing the security of the iOS system, but are more “rich” in functionality. Many of them are free, but there are also some that require you to pay a fee.

How to properly install Cydia on iPhone

This is elementary, when you make iOS (for example, using redsn0w), during installation you will be asked to install an add-on, to do this, just make the required checkbox.

The history of the appearance of Sidia

When the first iPhone was born, the developer had not yet come up with the AppStore. Therefore, users of the miracle device could only use standard applications that were provided by the developer (safari browser, mail, YouTube, photo gallery). And since iOS was and now remains a completely “closed” OS, the installation of various add-ons was not provided for.

But the moment came when hackers were able to hack iOS system and gain access to it. This made it possible to begin developing applications and installing them on the gadget; to facilitate this process, a certain installer was invented, which over time grew into what we see now as Sidia.

Now every iOS programmer uploaded along with the program XML file, which indicated the Internet path to install the application (repository).

Of course, Apple could not look at all this from the outside, and with the release of the second iPhone, the popular AppStore appeared, which made it possible to officially trade software applications.

You may ask: “Great, the AppStore appeared, why did Sidia stay?” The answer is actually simple - those tweaks that remain in it are those that gain full access to iOS, making adjustments to it that Apple does not need and, therefore, cannot be found officially.

How to use and enjoy Cydia

On initial startup, you will see messages about various options settings: Simple, Advanced and Hacker. Of course we choose the first option :)

Then the program itself will update the list of available programs and check for available updates to current ones. After which you will see all the information on the screen.

The program has five tabs:

Home – home page, main news, latest updates, twitter feed, etc.;

Sections – a catalog of available tweaks, which are divided into categories;
Changes – list of changes in the program (version history);
Manage – Full control installed applications(Packages), detailed information about the system (Storage), adding or changing a repository (Sources)
Search – search for tweaks.

How to install a tweak or application from Cydia

The tweaks you need can be found either in the Sections tab (categorized) or through Search by name. Once you have found the application you need, click on its name and tap Install. In the next step, confirm your Confirm action, after which the installation process will begin.

How to reinstall or remove an application from Cydia

Unfortunately, this is not done as easily as in the AppStore. First, go to Cydia and go to the Manage tab. We find the desired program and click on it (I get to the details menu), then click the Modify button and select the desired action: Reinstall or Remove.

We did it for you step by step instructions on how to install Electra jailbreak for iOS 11/11.1.2 with support for the Cydia application. This is a semi-tethered jailbreak for 64-bit devices released by CoolStar.

You've probably already heard about the Electra tool and want to install it if you haven't already. However, before you start, you need to be well prepared.

Requirements

It's worth noting that this is a semi-tethered jailbreak, which means it will need to be reactivated in the Electra app every time you reboot your device. You also need to know that although Saurik never released an official update to Cydia or Substrate for iOS 11, the final version of Electra includes an unofficial version of the application, updated by the developer of the tool himself. The tool also supports Substitute, an alternative to Substrate that allows you to install tweaks. Now let's move on to what you will need before installation.

  • Device with supported firmware: iOS 11.0 – iOS 11.1.2; 64-bit devices including iPhone X and iPhone 8/8 Plus.
  • Cydia Impactor, which can be downloaded for free from the website: cydiaimpactor. com .
  • Latest version of iTunes available.
  • Windows or Mac PC.
  • Free or paid developer account, which can be downloaded from the website: developer. apple. com and install using your old or new Apple ID.
  • IPA file latest version Electra 1.0.x, the download link for which you will find.

Instructions

Step 1: Connect your device to your PC or Mac using a cable. Save backup copy your device via iTunes before starting the process. This is for your protection in case something goes wrong and your data is lost.

Step 2: Open Cydia program Impactor and drag the IPA Electra file into its window. Then you will need to enter your Apple ID information. Cydia Impactor will then take matters into its own hands and download the tool file to your device on its own.

Step 3: Once the Electra IPA file is downloaded to your device, do not launch the application immediately. Before that, go to Settings > General > Profiles and device management and select the profile you used before. Click Trust and confirm your action. You can now return to the Electra app and open it.

Step 4: When the Electra app launches, you will see the standard jailbreak interface with a button Jailbreak in the center of the screen. Click on it, and also turn on the switch next to the word Tweaks.

Step 5: Wait for the process to complete. If you see the message “APFS Screenshot Created”, then everything is fine. Just click Continue Jailbreak. The APFS Snapshot feature will allow you to roll back to iOS 11.1.2 using SemiRestore if something goes wrong.

Once the installation is complete, the Cydia app should appear on your home screen.

This is all. Open the Cydia app and start installing tweaks!
